Itinerary
Day 1: Inca Trail KM 104 – Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu
Early in the morning, you will be picked up from your hotel in Cusco and transferred to the train station to begin your journey toward the Inca Trail starting point at KM 104. Upon arrival, you will officially enter the Inca Trail network and visit Chachabamba, an important ceremonial site believed to have served as a control entrance to Machu Picchu.
The hike continues through lush cloud forest scenery, surrounded by rivers, waterfalls, and native flora. After a scenic ascent, you will enjoy a break and a box lunch before reaching Wiñay Wayna, one of the most impressive archaeological complexes along the Inca Trail. This site showcases agricultural terraces, temples, and panoramic views of the Urubamba Valley.
By midday, you will reach the legendary Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where you will witness your first breathtaking view of Machu Picchu from above. After descending, you will travel to Aguas Calientes town, where you will check in at your hotel and rest for the night.
Day 2: Machu Picchu Guided Tour – Return to Cusco
After breakfast, you will take the bus up to the Machu Picchu Citadel. A guided tour will introduce you to the history, architecture, and mysteries of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, including its temples, plazas, and sacred spaces.
The morning atmosphere provides excellent lighting and fewer crowds, allowing time for memorable photos and exploration. After the guided visit, you will return to Aguas Calientes, where you will have free time for lunch on your own before boarding the train back. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco, concluding this unforgettable experience.
