Itinerary
Day 1: Sacred Valley & Moray Exploration
The journey begins with a morning departure from Cusco toward the Sacred Valley of the Incas. The first stop is Chinchero, a traditional Andean village where local textile techniques are still practiced using ancestral methods. Visitors gain insight into the cultural importance of weaving and community life.
The route continues to Moray, an extraordinary archaeological site featuring circular terraces believed to have been used for agricultural experimentation. After enjoying panoramic views of the valley, lunch is served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, explore Ollantaytambo, a monumental Inca town known for its massive terraces, temples, and strategic military importance. The day ends with a transfer to the hotel for rest.
Day 2: Pisac Ruins & Sacred Valley Views
After breakfast, depart for the eastern side of the Sacred Valley. Stop at the Taray viewpoint to enjoy sweeping views of the valley carved by the Urubamba River. Continue to the archaeological site of Pisac, located high on a mountainside.
Here, explore its advanced system of terraces, ceremonial areas, and urban planning that demonstrate the Incas’ architectural mastery. After the guided visit, return to Cusco by early afternoon, leaving the rest of the day free for relaxation or independent exploration.
Day 3: Machu Picchu Guided Visit
This day is dedicated to the highlight of the journey: Machu Picchu. After breakfast and hotel check-out, transfer to the train station and travel through scenic Andean landscapes to Machu Picchu Pueblo.
Upon arrival, ascend by bus to the citadel and begin a guided tour lasting approximately two and a half hours. Discover the most important sectors of Machu Picchu, including temples, terraces, and ceremonial spaces, while learning about Inca history, astronomy, and engineering. After the visit, enjoy free time in Machu Picchu Pueblo before returning by train and transferring back to Cusco.
Day 4: Rainbow Mountain Adventure
An early departure leads south of Cusco toward the high Andean region of Phulawasipata. From here, begin a scenic hike through valleys inhabited by llamas and alpacas, with constant views of the Ausangate mountain range.
After approximately 90 minutes of hiking, reach the summit of Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain. Admire its naturally colored mineral slopes and surrounding snow-capped peaks. After time to explore and take photos, descend along the same route and enjoy lunch before returning to Cusco in the late afternoon.
